Whether you're an experienced writer or just getting started, share your knowledge and expertise with your peers. We will gladly work with you to create an article.
If you're ready to get involved as a PAYTECH and/or Global Payroll magazine contributing writer, the following guidelines will help you.
PAYTECH Magazine
- Article length:
- Feature articles 1,000 - 2,000
- Short stories 300-999
- Keep in mind that PAYTECH's print production cycle is about three months long – i.e., an article published in the June issue needs to be turned in in March.
Global Payroll Magazine
- Article length:
- Feature articles 1,000- 2,000
- Country Spotlights / Professional Spotlights 1,500
- Keep in mind that Global Payroll's digital production cycle is about two months long – i.e., an article published in the June issue needs to be turned in in April.
Key Steps for Writers
- Use your professional experiences to create a newsworthy article – a challenge you have met, a software implementation, or a process that saves time and money.
- Double-check the accuracy of your article. Verify every fact, date, and figure. If you are quoting a fact, statistic, or example, be sure to include source attribution.
- Please do not use footnotes; Rather, incorporate the attribution directly into the sentence (e.g., According to the January 2018 issue of Payroll Currently, the Backup Withholding tax rate decreases to 24%).
- Write like you would speak. If you need a technical term for accuracy and clarity, explain it in layman's terms.
- Write freely. Don't attempt perfection on the first draft. Simply get all your thoughts down.
- Feel free to use subheads and bulleted or numbered lists to help break out longer blocks of text (readers today are scanners and appreciate "takeaways" like that).
- Include any charts/graphics/photos as attachments. Please do not insert within the article text.
- Include as .jpg format
- As high-resolution as you have available (300 dpi or 1 MB-2 MB file size)
