PayrollOrg (PAYO) is the combination of the American Payroll Association and the Global Payroll Management Institute (founded in 2015). This change went into effect on May 2, 2023, to better represent our borderless global community of payroll leaders.
PAYO is the payroll industry leader in education, publications, and networking, helping its constituents grow their leadership practices and stay on the cutting edge of payroll industry standards. Each year, PAYO enrolls more than 100,000 participants from more than 100 countries in its training programs, and provides publications, newsletters, and resources to help payroll professionals maintain compliance.
PayrollOrg membership is open to anyone engaged in payroll administration and/or related fields. PayrollOrg proudly represents a true cross section of the payroll profession made up predominantly of payroll managers from all 50 states, with a growing constituency in Puerto Rico, Canada, and other foreign nations, whose payroll informational needs are as diverse as the number of employees paid and as demanding as the number of states and countries in which they pay.
Annual dues are $312 with a $35 enrollment fee charged to new members. Memberships that are inactive over 90 days are also charged the $35 enrollment fee when rejoining.

All FPC and CPP certified PayrollOrg members are granted three Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs) per completed membership year for being a member in good standing.

PayrollOrg's members can access their monthly newsletter covering payroll compliance news and issues and Inside Washington by visiting the Bookshelf. You will need to log in using your User Name and Password to read, print, or download the newsletter.

PayrollOrg is comprised of two different entities: American Payroll Institute, Inc. (API) which is a 501(c)(6) membership-based organization, and API Fund for Payroll Education, Inc. (Fund) which is a 501(c)(3) educational organization.
- PayrollOrg has elected to pay a proxy tax on the total amount of its lobbying expenditures. Accordingly, you may deduct 100% of your membership dues as an ordinary business expense.
- Any class, book, merchandise or similar purchase from either entity does not qualify as an eligible charitable donation.
- Sponsorships and donations made to the Fund may qualify to the extent that the value of the service is less than the amount paid for the service.
- Non-qualifying purchases are still deductible as ordinary business expenses.

Log into your account and click on My Subscriptions. Click membership and then slide the auto-renewal button to the right. If it is time to renew your Membership, you can select “Auto Renew” on the Shipping Information page when you check out. Now you don’t have to worry about losing access to any of your PayrollOrg Member benefits.

Team PAYO Membership
Team PAYO is a discounted membership rate available to employers or organizations enrolling three or more individuals from the same company or verified subsidiaries at the same time. Each individual receives a separate annual membership with full benefits and their own unique User Name. Join now.
If a team member already has an active membership, they can be included in your team and the purchase will extend their current term for one year from the original term’s expiration date.
Team PAYO discounts only apply to new purchases and cannot be retroactively applied after checkout. They also cannot be combined with other promotional offers. Be sure to finalize your team before completing your order.
No. Chapters are not eligible for Team PAYO discounted membership rates.
Once your Team PAYO purchase is processed, you will receive an email from Customer Service with activation instructions and a campaign code. Each team member must activate their membership within 15 days of purchase to receive a full year of access.
Yes, you may add individuals within 15 days at the original discounted purchase rate. Added members must be employees of the same company or a verified subsidiary. Submit an Order Form to CustomerService@Payroll.org. Added members must activate their membership within 15 days of being added.
Yes, but only to another employee of the same company or verified subsidiary. Transfers must be requested by the original Team PAYO purchaser or company cardholder and approved by PayrollOrg. Only the remaining balance of the membership term will be available to the substitute.
No. Team PAYO memberships are non-refundable once purchased. Unused or unactivated memberships may result in reduced access duration.
If a membership is not activated within 15 days, it will only be valid for the remaining time from the original purchase date. Full-year access is only guaranteed with timely activation.
Your Account
If you need to update your profile, log in with your User Name and password. Click on your name at the top of the page, which will take you to your "My Account" page where you can update the necessary fields. Be sure to click Submit at the bottom of the page when finished.
To update your email address, first name, last name, or middle initial, please email CustomerService@payroll.org for assistance. For security purposes, you cannot make changes to those record fields online.
To reset your password, click Login at the top of the navigation bar, then click "Need Help Signing In?" beneath the "Create A New Account" button. Follow the prompts to reset your password.

The Product Finder allows you to search a list of PayrollOrg educational offerings and publications. The list can be filtered by delivery method and/or topic. Orders
To view your order history, log in with your User Name and password. Once logged in, click on your name at the top of the page to be taken to your "My Account" page. Select the View My Orders button to see your order history. The order numbers link to your order confirmation, which has the details of the product purchased.
You can send a copy of the Order Confirmation to yourself, which may be used as a receipt. It includes a listing of products purchased and payment information for the order. To do so, login using your User Name and password. Once logged in, click on your name at the top of the page to be taken to your "My Account" page. Select the View My Orders button. Find the order you need a receipt for and click on the order number link. At the top of the Order Confirmation page, ensure the email address is correct and press the send button.
To pay an outstanding balance on an order, login to the website using your User Name and password. Once logged in, click on your name at the top of the page to be taken to your "My Account" page. Select the View My Orders button. Under Your Order History click the link where it says, "To pay an outstanding balance on an order, click here." Select the order you'd like to make a payment on and follow the prompts.

bookshelf.payroll.org. We recommend that you bookmark this URL in your browser.
You can either click "Log In" at the top or select a publication by hovering over its cover and selecting the hyperlinked title. You will be prompted to enter your User Name and password to access your purchase.
If you navigate to a publication that is not included in your subscription, you will receive a message telling you that you can gain instant access to the publication with a link to learn more and purchase online.
